The man was driving an SUV when the Clearwater police attempted to pull him over for a traffic stop. Instead of stopping, police say that he made a U-turn and headed the wrong way on another road.
As the vehicle headed into traffic, the driver had to swerve to avoid a head-on collision. The driver went off the road and hit a nearby building. This resulted in the driver suffering injuries and his passenger, a 28-year-old woman, passing away.
The man now faces vehicular homicide charges and additional charges for causing a death while attempting to flee the police as well as driving with a revoked or suspended license.
Unsafe drivers may cause unnecessary deaths on the road
It is a reality that there will always be unsafe drivers on the road. Other drivers can try to mitigate the risk by paying close attention to the road and always driving cautiously. However, in cases where a driver you’re with acts dangerously, you may have no control.
If you are involved in a crash and are hurt because of the driver of your vehicle’s actions or you have lost a loved one in a situation like this, you may be able to make a personal injury or wrongful death case against them for their negligent and reckless actions.
